Neelum-Jhelum project to sell power at Rs9.1 per unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday allowed charging the highest hydel tariff of RsRs9.118 per kWh on provisional basis. It allowed Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP) to continue selling its electricity at provisional tariff of Rs9.118 per kWh on take and pay basis with must-run condition. This was already effective from October 17, 2019. Chinese power firm alleges FBR role in delaying shipments

A Chinese company building a 720-megawatt hydropower generation complex on the Jhelum River says it has been facing serious problems and delays in obtaining advance tax exemption orders at import stage from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the last few months. The Pak-China Relations Steering Committee on Monday directed finalisation of a uniform policy framework within a month for extension in commercial operation dates (CODs) of five power projects of about 3,600 megawatts being set up under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
