ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed Türkiye’s steadfast support for Pakistan, vowing to stand by the country in both good and challenging times, as it has in the past and will continue to do in the future.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Erdogan highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, calling the Türkiye-Pakistan brotherhood “one of the best examples of true friendship” that is rarely seen globally. He emphasized Ankara’s commitment to Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity.

Erdogan also commended Pakistan’s “sensible and patient” approach to regional issues, noting Islamabad’s preference for dialogue and compromise as a means of resolving disputes.

The remarks came in response to a post by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for Türkiye’s unwavering support. Calling Erdogan a “dear brother,” PM Sharif praised Türkiye’s ironclad solidarity, especially during difficult moments. “Our bond only strengthens with every new challenge,” he stated.

The prime minister also lauded President Erdogan’s constructive and consistent role as a peace mediator in South Asia.

The reaffirmation of ties follows recent regional tensions between Pakistan and India, which saw a flare-up before a ceasefire was achieved after Pakistan’s Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. In the wake of the conflict, the Turkish ambassador in Islamabad met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to express Türkiye’s strong solidarity with Pakistan over the violation of its sovereignty and the loss of innocent lives.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to regional peace and pledged continued close cooperation.
