Rs17.6 Trillion Federal Budget 2025–26 to Be Unveiled Today

ISLAMABAD: The federal government will unveil the Rs17.6 trillion Budget 2025–26 in the National Assembly today, with Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb set to present the financial plan and deliver his second budget speech. The Finance Bill 2024 will also be laid before the Senate, as mandated under Article 73 of the Constitution.

According to official sources, the government anticipates gross federal revenues of Rs19.4 trillion, with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tasked with collecting Rs14,130 billion in taxes. The target includes Rs6,450 billion in direct taxes, Rs4,900 billion from sales tax, Rs1,150 billion in excise duties, and Rs1,740 billion from customs duties. The petroleum levy is projected to yield Rs1,311 billion, while non-tax revenues are expected to reach Rs4,000 billion. A provincial surplus of Rs1,200 billion is also forecasted.

The National Assembly Secretariat has outlined the post-budget schedule. After the presentation on June 10, the House will recess on June 11–12. Budget debate will begin on June 13 and continue through June 21. Discussions on charged expenditures will follow on June 23, with voting on demands for grants and cut motions on June 24–25. The Finance Bill will be approved on June 26, and supplementary grants and related matters on June 27.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq affirmed that all parliamentary parties will be given due time to participate in the budget debate under Assembly rules.
