LAHORE: The 1,320 MW Sahiwal Coal Power Plant has proactively implemented NEPRA’s 2025 Safety Awareness Campaign, taking swift and effective measures to promote electrical safety among its workforce and surrounding communities.

In response to NEPRA’s directive outlining five key focus areas, the plant has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at reducing electrical accidents and enhancing public knowledge of safety practices.

The campaign included interactive street awareness drives targeting pedestrians and local shopkeepers, emphasizing practical steps to prevent electrical hazards. A special focus was also placed on private electricians, who often lack formal safety training but operate in high-risk residential and commercial settings.

To build community resilience, the plant organized emergency response workshops and safety drills for residents and businesses, equipping them with essential skills to manage electrical incidents. Additionally, extensive in-house training sessions were conducted for plant line staff, covering safe equipment handling, hazard identification, and preventive maintenance.

“Our goal is to create a culture of safety that extends beyond the plant,” said a spokesperson. “We are committed to ongoing improvements, ensuring safety remains a core priority in all our operations.”
