ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation of leading industrialists, headed by former caretaker minister Gohar Ejaz, called on Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday to discuss Pakistan’s economic challenges and the path to recovery.
According to Geo News, the delegation included APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad, SM Tanvir, and the presidents of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
During the meeting, Gohar Ejaz highlighted the gradual return of economic stability and reaffirmed the business community’s strong backing of the government’s reform agenda. He emphasized the need to create an enabling environment for businesses, including reducing interest rates in line with inflation.
Ejaz also urged the government to address industry concerns in the federal budget, protect local cotton production, and support farmers. He advocated for an export-led growth strategy and called on the government to fulfill budgetary commitments made to the business sector.
