ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Petroleum Division, chaired initially by Syed Mustafa Mehmood, on Friday reviewed the Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in detail and recommended its passage with amendments.
Mehmood, attending from abroad, opened the meeting before handing over proceedings to Syed Naveed Qamar under Rule 216 of the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure. The committee confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting and welcomed the federal petroleum minister, committee members, and officials from relevant divisions.
A sub-committee led by Qamar submitted its report, which was adopted and forwarded to the Petroleum Division for further action. The panel, comprising Qamar, Asad Alam Niazi, Muhammad Moin Aamer Pirzada, and Gul Asghar Khan, was tasked with formulating guidelines for transparent and effective use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, production bonuses, and training funds, aimed at community relief and capacity-building.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Anwarul Haq Chaudhary, Shaista Khan, Salahuddin Junejo, Shahid Ahmad, and Shazia Marri (special invitee), along with senior officials including Petroleum Secretary Momin Agha and Additional Secretary Power Division Mahfooz Bhatti.
