Sharjeel, British Deputy High Commissioner Discuss Renewable Energy Collaboration

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon met British Deputy High Commissioner Lance Dome to discuss the province’s energy initiatives, development projects, and prospects for enhanced international cooperation.

During the meeting, Memon highlighted Sindh’s ongoing efforts in renewable energy, including Thar coal-based power generation, solar and wind hybrid projects, and the province’s home solarisation programme. He said that with World Bank support, new solar and wind hybrid plants will soon be launched, further strengthening Sindh’s transition toward clean energy.

The minister emphasized Sindh’s vast natural resources and reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving energy self-sufficiency through local resource utilization and renewable energy promotion.

He also briefed the visiting diplomat on Sindh’s landmark housing initiative for flood-affected families, under which 2.1 million homes are being constructed.

Lance Dome lauded the Sindh government’s welfare and development efforts, describing them as commendable and forward-looking. The meeting was also attended by Huda Ikram, Senior Political Adviser at the British High Commission.

At the conclusion, Sharjeel Inam Memon presented traditional Sindhi gifts to the visiting dignitaries as a gesture of goodwill.
