ISLAMABAD: In a welcome development for inflation-hit consumers, petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to fall by up to Rs6.10 per litre starting October 16, according to petroleum sector sources.
As per industry estimates shared with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to see a modest reduction of 97 paisa per litre, while kerosene could become cheaper by Rs2.75 per litre. Meanwhile, light diesel oil (LDO) is expected to drop by Rs1.64 per litre.
Officials confirmed that OGRA has finalized its summary for the latest price revision and forwarded it to the Petroleum Division for approval. The anticipated adjustment reflects changes in global oil prices and the strengthening of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar, offering slight but timely relief to consumers ahead of the festive and winter seasons.
