ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP): The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has called for replicating the successful Lahore Science Mela (LSM) 2025 model across other major cities of Pakistan to inspire scientific curiosity and innovation among the youth.
Following the two-day festival’s remarkable success, PAEC spokesperson Dr. Rashid Mahmood commended the event’s impact and suggested that similar interactive science festivals be organized in cities like Islamabad to sustain public enthusiasm for science and technology.
“To keep the spirit of curiosity alive in our youth, we must continue launching such educational and engaging science festivals nationwide,” Dr. Rashid emphasized, noting that such initiatives “ignite curiosity, promote love for scientific research, and quench the thirst of young minds to know more.”
The PAEC pavilion was one of the major attractions at the Mela, featuring displays on nuclear power generation, mineral exploration, agriculture, and healthcare innovations. Visitors showed keen interest in radiopharmaceutical kits for cancer diagnosis developed by PINSTECH, indigenously produced vaccines, and a model of a nuclear power plant.
Students were especially excited to interact with winners of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) 2025, trained by PIEAS, a leading PAEC university.
Organized by the Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS) at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, the Lahore Science Mela drew over 100,000 visitors, featuring a planetarium, laser shows, workshops, indoor games, and educational talks — transforming science into an accessible and inspiring experience for families and young learners alike.
