PESHAWAR: The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy research, technology development, and capacity building for 2025–2026. The signing ceremony was held at the Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (CAS-E), UET Peshawar.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor of UET Peshawar, and Muhammad Zubair Khan, Secretary Energy and Power, in the presence of Syed Habib Ullah Shah, CEO PEDO, and senior officials from both institutions.
Under the MoU, both organizations will collaborate to share project data, facilitate site visits, and provide access to research equipment to promote applied energy solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Energy & Power Muhammad Zubair Khan highlighted the crucial role of universities in socio-economic growth, praising UET Peshawar’s contribution in linking academia with industry to address real-world challenges. He commended CAS-E for its active role in the energy sector and expressed hope that this partnership would help resolve technical bottlenecks in PEDO’s renewable projects and enhance their implementation.
Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak reaffirmed UET’s commitment to supporting the province’s energy goals and announced that an international seminar would soon be organized to showcase the joint achievements of UET and PEDO.
Meanwhile, Syed Habib Ullah Shah, CEO PEDO, expressed optimism that the collaboration would accelerate practical solutions, strengthen project viability, and create new opportunities for young engineers and researchers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This strategic partnership aims to transform academic research into scalable renewable energy projects, enhancing local industry participation, boosting investor confidence, and driving sustainable energy development across the province.
