Karachi: The Traffic Police have released detailed statistics on e-challans issued across the city over the past month, revealing that more than Rs 710 million in penalties were imposed for various traffic violations.
According to the report, over 93,000 e-challans were issued during the month, with the highest number recorded for seatbelt and helmet violations.
Key figures include:
- 57,541 challans issued for not wearing seatbelts.
- 22,227 motorcyclists fined for riding without helmets.
- Using trackers installed in dumpers, trailers, and water tankers, 1,188 challans were issued for overspeeding.
- General overspeeding accounted for 2,699 challans, while 3,102 were issued for signal violations.
- 1,278 challans were issued for fancy number plates, and 1,178 for tinted windows.
- 611 challans were issued for stop-line violations and 426 for wrong-way driving.
In terms of fines collected:
- Seatbelt violations resulted in Rs 575.41 million in penalties.
- Helmet violations led to fines amounting to Rs 111.135 million.
- Vehicles with tinted windows were fined a total of Rs 29.45 million.
The Karachi Traffic Police urged citizens to adhere to traffic regulations to help reduce accidents and ensure smoother traffic flow across the city.
