Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) has appointed Asif Inam as the Chairman of its Board of Directors, with effect from January 5, 2026.
The listed energy company announced the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday. “We have to inform you that Asif Inam has been appointed as Chairman Board of Directors of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited with effect from 05 January 2026,” the notice stated.
According to information available on the SSGC website, Asif Inam is a prominent Pakistani businessman and industrialist with a well-established reputation in the textile sector. He brings extensive global exposure, having travelled widely across the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, the Middle East and the Far East.
A subject-matter expert in cotton and textiles, Inam has carried out significant research in the field and possesses in-depth knowledge of the full range of cotton varieties. He also has a strong understanding of Pakistan’s national energy challenges, particularly those impacting the textile industry. His views on economic, trade and industrial issues are widely regarded and frequently featured in national media.
He currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond International Corporation Limited, a leading textile spinning company with an annual turnover of around Rs12 billion, and as Chairman and Director of N.P. Cotton Mills Limited, which has an annual turnover of approximately Rs14 billion.
SSGC is primarily engaged in the transmission and distribution of natural gas in Sindh and Balochistan. The company also undertakes related activities, including the manufacturing and sale of gas meters and the execution of pipeline construction contracts.
Last month, SSGC shareholders elected a new Board of Directors for a three-year term, effective from December 24, 2025. The newly elected board members include Zuhair Siddiqui, Asif Inam, Saira Najeeb Ahmed, Usman Ahmed Chaudhry, Muhammad Dawood Bazai, Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Rehan Hashmi, Mohammad Ali Khan, Khalid Rahman, Salima Feerasta and Navaid Malik.
