ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has directed authorities to maintain strict and continuous monitoring of global developments, stock levels, and supply chains to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across Pakistan.
The directive was issued during a meeting of the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, convened after the Eid holidays to review the country’s energy supply position amid evolving geopolitical conditions.
Chairing the session, Aurangzeb emphasised that proactive planning, diversified procurement, and strong coordination among stakeholders have helped maintain stable domestic supplies despite volatility in global oil and gas markets. He reiterated that ensuring consistent fuel availability remains the government’s top priority.
The committee was informed that national inventories of crude oil and refined products remain at comfortable levels, supported by secured imports and steady domestic production. Supply chains—from ports to refineries, storage facilities, and retail outlets—are functioning smoothly, ensuring nationwide continuity.
Officials noted that fuel cargoes for March and April have largely been secured, with additional shipments planned to further strengthen supply buffers. Refineries are operating at optimal levels to sustain output and efficiency.
The meeting also reviewed global price trends and their potential impact on domestic markets, with the government closely evaluating price differentials to guide timely policy decisions.
Participants included Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary, and Bilal Azhar Kayani, along with senior officials from relevant ministries.
The committee further reviewed government-to-government engagements aimed at diversifying supply sources, strengthening logistics, and enhancing energy security in the face of shifting global dynamics.
