Karachi: The federal government is moving towards introducing a digital system for the rationing of petroleum products, aimed at improving transparency and efficient fuel management amid ongoing energy challenges.
Under the proposed plan, a dedicated mobile application is being developed for consumers. Citizens will be able to download the app and register themselves by entering their vehicle registration number along with their national identity card number. The system is expected to help regulate fuel consumption and prevent misuse, ensuring better allocation of petroleum resources nationwide.
In a separate development, the Government of Sindh is reportedly considering the imposition of lockdown measures as a precautionary step in light of a potentially evolving situation. However, no final decision has been announced yet.
Sources indicate that authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and a formal announcement is expected soon. If approved, the measures may include a complete lockdown on Sunday along with smart lockdowns in selected areas during the week.
Officials have emphasized that any potential decision will be taken to safeguard public health and safety. Citizens are advised to stay informed and be prepared to follow official guidelines once an announcement is made.
