Iran Rejects US Peace Proposal?, Sets Conditions for Ceasefire

IRAN-UAE1

ISLAMABAD: Iran has rejected a United States proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, asserting that any ceasefire will be determined solely on Tehran’s terms and timeline, according to a report by state-run media.

Citing a senior political-security official, Press TV reported that Iran will not allow Donald Trump to dictate the course or conclusion of the war. The official stressed that Iran would continue its defensive operations until its conditions are fully met.

According to the report, Washington had attempted to initiate negotiations through multiple diplomatic channels, presenting proposals that Tehran considers unrealistic and disconnected from ground realities. The latest offer, reportedly conveyed via a regional intermediary, was dismissed as an effort to escalate tensions.

Iran has outlined five key conditions for ending hostilities, including a complete halt to aggression and targeted killings, guarantees against future conflict, compensation for war damages, resolution of fighting across all fronts including allied groups, and international recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

These demands build upon earlier positions presented during past rounds of talks in Geneva, which Iranian officials claim were followed by renewed US and Israeli military actions.

Meanwhile, in an interview with IRNA, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, reiterated Tehran’s preference for dialogue but accused Washington of undermining diplomatic efforts.

He stated that although friendly countries may facilitate communication, there are currently no direct or indirect negotiations taking place between Iran and the United States. He also highlighted ongoing high-level coordination between Iran and Pakistan, underscoring a shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
