ISLAMABAD: The government has disbursed Rs1.2 billion among more than 32,000 beneficiaries in the first phase of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Package 2026, providing financial relief to transport sector stakeholders amid rising fuel costs.
The funds were transferred digitally through Easypaisa, ensuring fast, secure, and transparent delivery of assistance to operators of buses, trucks, long-haul vehicles, and delivery vans nationwide.
Officials noted that Easypaisa is the first digital wallet facilitating direct transfers to truck operators, with plans to expand coverage to tank lorries, buses, and motorcycle users in the coming phases.
Speaking on the initiative, Jahanzeb Khan, CEO of Easypaisa Digital Bank, expressed commitment to supporting the government in delivering timely financial assistance through innovative digital solutions.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized that digital payments are a cornerstone of Pakistan’s evolving financial ecosystem, enabling transparency, efficiency, and large-scale inclusion.
She added that under the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, digital finance initiatives are playing a transformative role in improving lives and advancing the country toward a cashless, digitally empowered economy.
With over 59 million registered users and an extensive nationwide agent network, Easypaisa continues to support financial inclusion and strengthen government-to-person (G2P) payment systems across Pakistan.
