Pakistan Armed Forces Declare Deterrence Restored After Strikes on Indian Targets

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces have announced the successful completion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, stating that 26 high-value Indian targets were struck in response to India’s airspace violations and missile attacks on May 6–7, which killed 31 Pakistani civilians.

At a joint press conference, Chief Military Spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, PAF DGPR Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Ops) Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz outlined the scope and impact of the operation.

Gen Chaudhry said the military response was a “textbook demonstration of integrated tri-services capability,” leveraging real-time awareness and multidomain coordination. He confirmed that key Indian airbases — including Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur, Srinagar, and Pathankot — sustained major damage, and BrahMos missile facilities used in attacks on Pakistani civilians were destroyed.

Air Vice Marshal Ahmed highlighted that the Pakistan Air Force executed its largest operational package since 1971, targeting Indian Air Force (IAF) sites with “precision, reach, and minimum collateral damage.” He said the strikes negated India’s attempt to create a “new normal” of aggression.

Vice Admiral Nawaz stated the Pakistan Navy had monitored and countered the threat posed by INS Vikrant and other Indian assets near the Arabian Sea, maintaining full readiness throughout.

Responding to a question, Gen Chaudhry clarified, “Pakistan never requested a ceasefire,” while warning that conflict between nuclear-armed states risks mutual annihilation. He emphasized Pakistan’s mature, proportionate use of conventional force while maintaining counterterrorism operations internally.

Meanwhile, Indian military officials held their own press conference asserting success under Operation Sindoor, claiming elimination of “high-value terrorists.” However, they sidestepped questions about reports of downed Rafale jets, saying only, “losses are part of any combat scenario.”

The ISPR chief paid tribute to the martyred civilians and armed forces, while acknowledging Pakistan’s youth and media for their role in resisting Indian disinformation. He also appreciated political leadership for standing united with the military during this confrontation.
