KUCHING – Sarawak will proudly host the 6th International Energy Week (IEW) 2025 from 15–17 July 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), spotlighting the region’s emergence as a trailblazer in clean energy across Asia-Pacific.
Under the compelling theme “From Sarawak to the World: Journey to Clean Energy Leadership,” the event will convene global energy leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators to accelerate the global energy transition and forge a sustainable future.
*YB Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland bin Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak and Chairman of the IEW 2025 Organising Committee, announced that over *6,500 attendees from 25 countries are expected, reflecting Sarawak’s growing influence as a clean energy hub.
“IEW 2025 is a pivotal milestone as Sarawak advances from energy consumer to producer and exporter of sustainable solutions,” he said. “This platform will spark industrial growth, attract investment, and cement our leadership in the regional energy ecosystem.”
Echoing this vision, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Rahmat, Organising Chairman, stated that Sarawak offers a blueprint for sustainable development in Southeast Asia. “We will showcase how resource-rich regions can prosper while preserving environmental integrity.”
Sarawak now generates over *70% of its electricity from renewable hydropower, complemented by advancements in *solar, biomass, and hydrogen technologies. Home to Malaysia’s first commercial hydrogen production facility, Sarawak leads the national *Hydrogen Economy Roadmap, aligning with its *Sustainability Vision 2030.
IEW 2025 will feature a three-day exhibition of 400+ companies across key sectors, including renewables, hydrogen, smart grids, CCUS, and green infrastructure. With *over 200 booths, the event is projected to generate *USD 2.5 million in potential business.
The *IEW Summit, running from 15–16 July, will host *50 speakers and 400+ delegates across 20 curated sessions, focusing on enabling technologies, cross-border collaboration, youth empowerment, and policy development. Key highlights include:

- Ministerial Forums on economic transformation and natural gas
- Panels on ASEAN policy harmonisation, sustainable development, and innovation
- Career and Technical Talks bridging students with industry leaders
