Kenya Named Official Partner Country for OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2025: A Strong Alliance for Sustainable Energy

Augsburg, Germany – In a major step toward global collaboration on sustainable energy, Kenya has been announced as the official partner country for the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2025 (OEC), set to take place on October 30–31, 2025, at Messe Augsburg. The East African nation, a recognized leader in renewable and off-grid energy, will bring its expertise, innovation, and ambition for a green future to the European stage.

To celebrate the partnership, a Meet & Greet was held at the Messe Augsburg Conference Center in May, attended by Kenyan and German delegates, including Governors Benjamin Chesire Chebo (Baringo) and Stephen Sang (Nandi). They presented regional plans for sustainable energy expansion and highlighted opportunities for collaboration.

H.E. Ambassador Stella Mokaya Orina (Embassy of Kenya in Berlin) remarked, “We are honored to be the OEC 2025 partner country and look forward to building impactful partnerships in Augsburg. Kenya is eager to share its success in decentralized energy and explore new solutions together.”

With over 80% of its electricity generated from renewables—primarily geothermal, solar, and wind—Kenya is advancing its Vision 2030 and National Energy Plan with a strong focus on off-grid solutions.

Lorenz A. Rau, CEO of Messe Augsburg, welcomed the partnership: “Kenya is a natural fit for OEC 2025. Their innovation and real-world progress perfectly reflect the Expo’s mission of advancing decentralized energy globally.”

The city of Gersthofen, adjacent to Augsburg, also hosted the Kenyan delegation, strengthening ties built over years of cooperation with Baringo County. First Mayor Michael Wörle affirmed support for a high-level Kenyan presence at the upcoming event.

Held under the patronage of Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber, OEC 2025 is Europe’s only neutral trade fair and conference dedicated to off-grid solutions. As an English-language B2B platform, it connects decision-makers, NGOs, researchers, and public-sector leaders to accelerate clean energy access and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
