Timely Completion of Hydropower Projects a Top Priority: KP Energy Secretary

PESHAWAR: Secretary Energy and Power Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Zubair Khan, has emphasized that the timely completion of key hydropower projectsBalakot, Lawi, Gorkin Matiltan, Gabral (Kalam), and Madyan—is a major priority and a pressing challenge for the provincial government.

Chairing a high-level meeting recently, the Secretary urged swift action and enhanced transparency to meet the deadlines of ongoing energy projects. Senior officials from PEDO, KP Oil and Gas Company, Electric Inspectorate, Energy Planning, and additional secretaries Shoaib Khan and Anwar Khan Sherani were present.

Zubair Khan stressed that all energy projects must be executed in line with the KP Government’s Good Governance Roadmap, which prioritizes merit, transparency, and efficiency. He called for immediate amendments to the Power Policy 2016 to attract new investments and accelerate progress.

He directed officials to develop detailed work plans, timelines, and activity schedules, ensuring strict compliance with e-tendering, e-payment, and one-window service platforms under the supervision of the KP Chief Secretary’s directives.

“Completing these strategic projects within their set time frames is essential for KP’s energy security and economic growth,” the Secretary concluded.
