KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has announced that the provincial government will provide tax exemptions and full support to investors in eco-friendly and electric mobility industries, reaffirming the province’s commitment to a greener, cleaner future.
Speaking at the inauguration of INVEREX’s first Electric Vehicle (EV) showroom in Karachi on Sunday, Shah said that special funds are being allocated for green energy initiatives under the guidance of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Highlighting the province’s roadmap for electric transportation, Shah said that EV charging stations will be installed in all major cities and along highways every 30 to 40 kilometers, and all new buildings in Sindh must now include EV charging infrastructure. He added that government land would be allocated for the development of EV charging networks.
Accompanied by INVEREX CEO Muhammad Zakir Ali and Director Abdul Rehman, the minister toured the facility and was briefed on vehicle features and support services, including home charger installations.
“Electric vehicles cost just Rs4 per kilometer to run,” Shah noted. “We aim to promote local manufacturing and will offer tax incentives to investors in electric mobility and renewable technologies.”
He also reiterated that Rs25 billion has been earmarked in the Sindh budget to lower electricity costs through solarisation, particularly benefiting low-income households. Shah emphasized the government’s strong majority and commitment to executing public welfare schemes, including solar panel distribution and clean energy adoption.
During the ceremony, the minister was honored with a traditional Sindhi Ajrak and cap, and a ceremonial cake was cut to mark the showroom’s opening.
