Dar Stresses Affordable Energy, Reviews Prices of Essential Commodities

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired two key meetings on the energy sector and essential commodities, stressing affordability and consumer protection.

In a detailed briefing by the Ministry of Petroleum, Dar underlined the need to enhance exploration and boost productivity, while ensuring that energy remains affordable for citizens. He noted that Pakistan is blessed with vast energy and mineral resources, which must be developed to maximize their contribution to economic growth. The meeting was attended by the Petroleum Minister, SAPM on Privatisation, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary Petroleum, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Doha, and senior officials.

Separately, Dar chaired a meeting to review commodity prices and availability. The committee examined stock positions and recent trends, with Dar reaffirming the government’s resolve to maintain stable supplies, curb price hikes, and safeguard consumers.
