BEIJING: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hailed China’s development as a model for Pakistan, reaffirming that the country remains fully open to Chinese investors.

Addressing the second Pakistan–China Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference in Beijing, he termed the gathering a milestone in attracting multi-billion-dollar investments and strengthening economic cooperation.

The premier lauded the decades-long Pakistan–China friendship, recalling that President Xi Jinping’s 2015 visit to Islamabad laid the groundwork for the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has since transformed infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and industry in Pakistan.

He invited Chinese industries to establish operations in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), assuring them of attractive incentives and comprehensive protection for Chinese nationals working in the country.

During the conference, Pakistan and China signed 21 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth $4.2 billion, covering sectors such as petrochemicals, solar energy, agriculture, iron and steel, and electric vehicles.

Shehbaz Sharif described the conference as the beginning of Pakistan’s economic “long march” toward sustainable growth, emphasizing that Chinese investment will enhance economic resilience, generate employment, and pave the way for long-term prosperity.
