Nathia Gali, Pakistan – 25th Sep 2025
GoodWe, a global leader in solar inverters and energy storage solutions, has successfully completed the installation of an advanced solar and storage project at the Alpine Hotel, Nathia Gali, Pakistan in collaboration with Nizam Energy. The project, commissioned four months ago, represents the first large-scale solar system in the region and marks a significant step forward in promoting sustainable energy and eco-tourism in northern Pakistan.
The installation features GoodWe’s ET Series 50kW Hybrid Inverter integrated with a 100kWh battery storage system, consisting of two BAT-50 battery units, and is further supported by a GoodWe Static Transfer Switch (STS). Together, these technologies provide the hotel with a reliable, efficient, and seamless energy management solution that reduces dependence on the national grid and backup generators. The system has been operating smoothly since its commissioning, delivering consistent performance even under the challenging weather conditions typical of the area. The system generates around 64,000 kWh of clean electricity annually. This not only offsets a substantial portion of the hotel’s energy consumption but also translates into annual bill savings of approximately PKR 3.6 million.
The GoodWe ET Series 50kW Hybrid Inverter is designed for high efficiency and flexibility, offering a rated output of 50kW and achieving a maximum efficiency of 98.2 percent. It supports both grid-tied and off-grid operations with UPS-level switching times of less than 10 milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted power for critical loads. The system is also equipped with smart energy management features, including time-of-use programming and zero-export functionality, enabling optimized performance and greater control over energy usage.
Complementing the inverter is the GoodWe BAT-50 lithium iron phosphate battery system, with two units providing a total capacity of 100kWh. Known for its safety, long life, and modular design, the battery solution offers more than 6,000 cycles at 90 percent depth of discharge, ensuring durability and scalability for future energy expansion.
A key feature of this project is the integration of a diesel generator as a backup power source, synchronized seamlessly with the solar and storage system through GoodWe’s STS (Static Transfer Switch). The STS ensures automatic and near-instantaneous switching between the inverter, the national grid, and the diesel generator, with transfer times of less than 10 milliseconds. This capability allows the Alpine Hotel to maintain uninterrupted operations during extended grid outages or periods of high energy demand. The generator synchronization ensures that, whenever renewable generation and battery storage are insufficient, the system can automatically call upon the generator to supply the hotel’s critical loads without any downtime or disruption.
By deploying this advanced hybrid solution, Alpine Hotel has not only improved operational efficiency but also significantly reduced its carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. The intelligent combination of solar, battery storage, and synchronized generator backup guarantees reliable and cost-effective energy management, while also contributing to the promotion of green eco-tourism in the region.
