Hitachi Energy Secures Landmark Contract to Strengthen Pakistan’s Power Transmission Network

Transmission-Line

Pakistan’s journey toward a sustainable and resilient energy future takes a major step forward as the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) awards Hitachi Energy a strategic contract for the 765/220 kV Mansehra Grid Station (Lot-III)—the first project of its kind in the country. This groundbreaking initiative aims to modernize the national grid and support Pakistan’s growing industrial and residential energy demands.

Meeting Pakistan’s Growing Power Needs

With cities expanding and industries thriving, Pakistan faces increasing pressure to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply. The modernization of the national grid has become essential to reduce transmission losses, enhance reliability, and integrate renewable energy sources in line with the nation’s sustainability goals.

Advanced Technology for a Smarter Grid

Under the contract, Hitachi Energy will design, supply, install, test, and commission key equipment for the Mansehra Substation, including state-of-the-art 765/220 kV circuit breakers from its Ludvika factory in Sweden. Once completed, the substation will serve as a critical node in Pakistan’s transmission network—enabling higher voltage levels, efficient long-distance power transfer, and enhanced grid stability.

A Milestone for Collaboration and Innovation

This project signifies a major milestone in Pakistan’s grid development and highlights Hitachi Energy’s leadership in delivering cutting-edge solutions worldwide. It builds on the company’s previous success with NTDC’s SCADA (III) project and reflects a continued partnership to strengthen Pakistan’s energy infrastructure.

“Hitachi Energy’s collaboration with NTDC marks a welcome development in advancing Pakistan’s transmission capabilities. The Mansehra Grid Station will become a central hub in the expanding network, showcasing modern transmission technology and strengthening our national grid,”
Engr. Shahid Nazir, Managing Director, National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC)

“This order reaffirms our dedication to enabling resilient and sustainable power systems. Working alongside our partners, we are proud to help nations like Pakistan move toward a more flexible and carbon-neutral energy future,”
Fabio Luiz, Service Management Executive, Global Business Unit PGHV, Hitachi Energy

Through this project, Hitachi Energy reinforces its commitment to accelerating Pakistan’s energy transition and supporting its vision for a smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable power network.
