Jakarta, Indonesia, October 8, 2025 — Indonesia reaffirmed its ambition to become the regional hub for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) with the official opening of the 3rd International & Indonesia CCS Forum 2025 (IICCS Forum 2025), held from October 7–8 at The Mulia Hotel, Jakarta. The event, themed “Advancing Indonesia as a CCS Hub Leader in the Asia-Pacific: Achieving Net Zero and Economic Growth,” is supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI).

The high-level opening session gathered government officials, industry experts, academics, and global investors to discuss pathways toward accelerating CCS deployment. Deputy Speaker of MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing CCS through clear regulations, investment incentives, and cross-ministerial coordination. He emphasized that success would depend on close collaboration among government, industry, academia, and investors to ensure a just energy transition that delivers sustainable economic benefits.

Belladonna Troxylon Maulianda, Executive Director of the Indonesia CCS Center (ICCSC) and host of the event, noted that the forum aims to generate tangible outcomes. “The IICCS Forum is a space where stakeholders unite to find real solutions. We aim for this platform to produce policy recommendations, partnerships, and new projects that drive CCS implementation in Indonesia,” she stated.

Echoing her views, Evan Lukas, Chairman of the 3rd IICCS Forum 2025 and Director of Indonesia Advocacy & Policy Development at ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions, said: “This forum goes beyond dialogue. We want every session to result in concrete actions that make Indonesia a CCS investment magnet and a regional success story.”

The two-day event features Plenary and Panel Sessions on Indonesia’s CCS roadmap, Policy and Investment Sessions focused on regulatory frameworks and business models, as well as Technical Workshops and Project Showcases highlighting both domestic and international CCS experiences. An Exhibition and Networking Session further connects industry players with investors and strategic partners.

Aligned with Indonesia’s commitment to cut emissions by 43.2% by 2030 (with international support) and achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060 or earlier, CCS is viewed as a critical technology for reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors while creating new economic opportunities.

Beyond its environmental benefits, CCS is expected to foster new value chains, including carbon storage infrastructure, job creation, and business prospects across energy, manufacturing, and logistics.

With strong government and industry support—and the strategic role of On Us Asia as co-organizing partner—the IICCS Forum 2025 represents a major milestone in advancing Indonesia’s leadership in the global low-carbon transition.
