The Sindh government has launched another phase of its electric scooter driving training programme for women, aimed at promoting safe, affordable and independent mobility for students and working women across the province.

Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said the latest training sessions have begun in Karachi’s Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Malir areas. He added that working women from all districts of Karachi would be encouraged to apply for the pink electric scooters under the initiative.

The minister said the programme was launched in Hyderabad on December 18 and would soon be extended to other cities of Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas.

He explained that the training focuses on safe scooter riding practices and road awareness. The initiative aims to provide women with convenient and secure transport options, noting that women’s empowerment remains a top priority of the Sindh government.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said women’s autonomy was closely linked to both economic independence and social freedom, stressing that meaningful empowerment was not possible without safe transportation facilities.

He added that the scooter training programme would help build confidence and self-reliance among women, benefiting both students and professionals. Interested applicants can find further details and submit applications at smta.sindh.gov.pk.
