Karachi: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has launched a phased induction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) across its airports as part of a broader strategy to promote environmental sustainability and modernize airport operations.

In the initial phase, EVs are being deployed for selected airside operations, marking the start of a gradual shift away from conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles. This step-by-step approach is designed to reduce carbon emissions, lower operational costs, and enhance efficiency, while maintaining operational continuity and safety.

The initiative underscores PAA’s commitment to adopting environmentally responsible technologies in line with international aviation best practices. Over time, the transition to electric mobility is expected to improve the overall environmental footprint of airport operations, enhance the modern outlook of airports, and support Pakistan’s national as well as global climate goals.
