Karachi: Atif Ikram Sheikh, President has welcomed the appointment of Asif Inam, VP FPCCI, as the Chairman Sui Southern Gas Company Limited. The appointment of Asif Inam as Chairman of SSGC Board brings a critical consumer-centric perspective to the utility’s governance; bridging the long-standing gap between energy providers and the industrial base they serve.
Atif Ikram Sheikh added that as a seasoned industrialist and current Vice President of FPCCI, Inam possesses deep, first-hand expertise in the energy challenges crippling Pakistan’s export sectors. His leadership profile is unique; he combines the strategic acumen of a large-scale manufacturer with rigorous corporate governance experience, having served on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) council and led World Bank-collaborated gas sector reform teams as well.

Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief, UBG, stated that his background positions Mr. Asif Inam perfectly to steer SSGC toward operational efficiency while ensuring that energy policies are calibrated to support industrial growth and national exports. His tenure is expected to prioritize the resolution of gas supply bottlenecks, reduce Unaccounted-for Gas (UFG) losses, and foster a more communicative, transparent relationship between the state utility and the business community.
Former IT Minister of Sindh and Chairman of the FPCCI Policy Advisory Board (FPCCI-PAB), Mian Zahid Hussain, hosted a high-profile luncheon to commemorate the coveted appointment. The event was held in honor of Mr. Asif Inam, Chairman of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Board and Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
