KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has appointed a new chairman and members of the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA), according to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
As per the notification dated March 6, 2026, the appointments have been made under Section 2 of the Sindh Regulation of Electric Power Services Act 2023, following recommendations of the selection committee.
Under the notification, Rafique Ahmed Shaikh has been appointed as Chairman of SEPRA. The newly appointed members include Nand Lal P. Sharma as Member (Technical & Development), Iftafa-ur-Rehman as Member (Legal & Corporate), and Muhammad Hanif Idress as Member (Finance & Policy).
According to the notification, the chairman will serve a four-year term in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Act, while the tenure and other terms and conditions for the members will be determined separately.
The notification was issued with immediate effect and signed by Asif Hyder Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh.
The formation of SEPRA is considered an important step toward strengthening the regulatory framework for the power sector in Sindh, particularly in the context of increasing focus on electricity distribution, private power initiatives, and energy sector reforms in the province.
Copies of the notification have been forwarded to relevant federal and provincial authorities, including senior officials of the Sindh government, judicial registrars, and administrative departments for information and necessary action.
