Karachi/Lahore: Yango Ride, part of the global tech firm Yango Group, has become the first ride-hailing platform in Pakistan to receive an official Transport Network Company (TNC) operating license from the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority, marking a major milestone for the country’s evolving mobility sector.
The license allows Yango Ride to operate under the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2025, which formally regulates ride-hailing services in Punjab. The approval follows months of engagement between the company, the Punjab Transport Ministry, and other government stakeholders to implement a comprehensive licensing framework for digital mobility platforms.
The new regulatory structure aims to enhance oversight while introducing stricter safety, verification, and compliance standards to protect both drivers and passengers.
“We appreciate the professionalism of the authorities throughout this process,” said Miral Sharif, Country Manager for Yango Pakistan. “This achievement reflects our commitment to building a safe, affordable, and reliable ride-hailing ecosystem while meeting high regulatory standards.”
Industry experts view the development as a step toward greater transparency and consistency in Pakistan’s ride-hailing sector. Operating within a government-recognized framework also provides companies with regulatory clarity and reduces operational uncertainties.
The milestone is also seen as a positive signal for Pakistan’s broader digital economy, as structured regulations are expected to encourage innovation while safeguarding public interests. As urbanization accelerates and demand for flexible transport solutions grows, such frameworks will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mobility.
In addition, Yango Ride is collaborating with the Punjab Safe City Authority to integrate emergency helpline 15 services into its app, further enhancing safety and accessibility for users and partner drivers across the province.
