How to apply for Sindh’s Rs2,000 motorcycle petrol subsidy

In a major relief measure for daily commuters hit by rising fuel prices, the Sindh government has started digital registration for a Rs2,000 monthly petrol subsidy for motorcycle owners. The subsidy will be paid directly into the applicant’s bank account after verification.

The announcement was made by Syed Murad Ali Shah, who said the programme is part of a wider targeted subsidy framework aimed at helping vulnerable groups while ensuring transparency and direct financial support.

Who can get the subsidy?

Only those motorcycle owners who meet the following conditions can receive the subsidy:

Your motorcycle must be registered in your own name
Your bank account must also be in your own name
You must complete the online verification and registration process
If more than one motorcycle is registered in one person’s name, only one subsidy will be given, according to media reports.

The Sindh government says each eligible motorcyclist will receive Rs2,000 per month, which is being described as support equivalent to around 20 litres of fuel.

Step-by-step: How to apply

Applicants can complete the process online in a few basic steps:

1) Visit the Excise portal

Go to the Sindh Excise Department’s online tax portal:
taxportal.excise.gos.pk

2) Start registration

Register for the motorcycle fuel subsidy through the portal.

3) Enter your CNIC details

Provide your Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number exactly as required.

4) Add your bank account / IBAN

Enter your bank account details or IBAN so the subsidy can be transferred directly to you.

5) Verify ownership

Make sure the motorcycle is already registered in your own name before you apply.

6) Submit the application

Once your details are verified, submit the application digitally.

7) Wait for confirmation

After successful verification, the subsidy amount will be transferred automatically into the registered account.

What if the motorcycle is not in your name?

This is one of the most important conditions.

If your bike is still registered in the previous owner’s name, you must transfer it into your own name first — otherwise, you may not qualify for the subsidy.

To make this easier, the Sindh government has:

waived the Rs500 motorcycle transfer fee
opened Excise offices for extended hours
allowed processing on Saturday and Sunday as well
Excise offices to stay open for 15 days

To help people complete ownership transfers and registrations quickly, Excise offices across Sindh will remain open for the next 15 days from:

8:00am to 12:00 midnight
including weekends

According to the chief minister, around 1,500 motorcycles had already been transferred to their rightful owners at the time of the announcement.

Helpline for applicants

If you face any issue during the process, you can contact the official help centre:

Helpline: 021-111-374-634

This helpline has been set up to guide applicants regarding registration, verification and transfer-related issues.

When will the money be paid?

According to reports, the Sindh government intends to begin disbursement in April, after verification of eligible applicants. Some reports said account holders of Sindh Bank may receive payment faster, while transfers to other banks could take slightly longer.

Applicants are therefore being advised to:

apply as early as possible
ensure their motorcycle ownership record is correct
make sure their bank account details are accurate
Why has the Sindh government launched this subsidy?

The Sindh government says the subsidy has been introduced to reduce the burden on ordinary citizens after the sharp rise in fuel prices and broader inflationary pressure.

Officials say the programme is designed as a targeted and transparent digital subsidy system, so that relief reaches those who actually need it rather than being lost in a general untargeted support scheme.

Other relief measures announced by Sindh government

Alongside the motorcycle subsidy, the Sindh government has also announced or discussed several related relief measures:

No increase in public transport fares, after talks with transporters
subsidy support for public transport operators
a farmers’ subsidy programme
possible direct subsidy on essential food items, including flour and other daily-use goods
consultations with traders regarding market timings

The chief minister said these steps are part of wider efforts to shield the public from the economic fallout of rising fuel and commodity prices.
