PM Orders Nationwide Crackdown to Ensure LPG Supply at Official Rates

ISLAMABAD: The government has launched a nationwide crackdown to ensure the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at officially notified prices, following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Acting on these instructions, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued notices to all LPG marketing companies, mandating the provision of invoices for every delivery vehicle and the clear declaration of prices on gate passes.

Officials warned that failure to disclose prices could result in strict penalties, including the cancellation of licences, as part of efforts to curb overcharging and enhance transparency in the supply chain.

In coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), OGRA has deployed enforcement teams nationwide to monitor compliance with the notified LPG rates for April 2026.

These joint teams have been granted extensive powers, including imposing fines ranging from Rs1 million to Rs10 million and sealing plants found violating government directives.

Authorities said the initiative aims to protect consumers from overpricing and ensure LPG availability at regulated rates, amid ongoing complaints of excessive charges in various regions.

The government has authorised OGRA and FIA to take all necessary actions to enforce the pricing mechanism, signalling a firm stance against profiteering and market manipulation in the LPG sector.
