OGRA Raises LPG Prices by 1.63% for June, Extending Rising Trend in Cooking Fuel Costs

New-LPG

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Monday increased liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices by 1.63 percent for June 2026, further adding to the upward pressure on household energy costs amid ongoing volatility in global energy markets.

According to the notification, the regulator set the new consumer price at Rs308.76 per kilogram, up from Rs303.8 in May. The increase translates into an additional Rs58 for an 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder, bringing its new price to Rs3,643.4, while the 45.4-kilogram commercial cylinder has risen by Rs225 to Rs13,886.

The revised prices took effect from June 1.

The latest adjustment comes after a sustained upward trend in LPG rates, which have increased by a cumulative 36.7 percent since the onset of regional tensions in the Middle East. In April alone, prices saw a sharp jump of around 35 percent, marking one of the steepest monthly increases in recent years.

The continued rise in LPG costs is placing additional pressure on low-income households, where liquefied petroleum gas remains a primary source of cooking fuel, amid already elevated inflation and stagnant purchasing power.

The pricing structure includes significant tax components, including a petroleum levy of Rs4,669 per tonne, an 18 percent general sales tax amounting to Rs40,799 per tonne, and additional GST charges on marketing, distribution, and transportation margins, further contributing to the overall consumer price.
