A safety advisory has been issued by the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) following a crude oil pipeline leak at National Refinery Limited (NRL) in Khayaban-e-Sahar, Defence Phase 6, Karachi.
According to DG SEPA Ashiq Langah, the leak began last night. The response team reached the site immediately and started the cleanup operation. So far, more than 20 drums of oil have been recovered.
On the instructions of Environment Secretary Faisal Aqili, the affected soil and sludge are being disposed of safely.
Citizens have been urged to stay away from the affected area and to avoid open flames or smoking near the site
