# OGRA Develops Real-Time Petroleum Stock Monitoring System

**ISLAMABAD:** The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is developing a digital system to obtain real-time petroleum stock and supply data directly from oil marketing companies (OMCs) and refineries, aiming to improve the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of information across the country’s fuel supply chain.

According to official documents, the new platform will collect data from OMCs and refineries through their **Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems**, while petroleum stock positions will be monitored through **Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) sensors**.

The digital platform for supply-chain visibility has already been developed, while integration of oil pipelines with ERP systems is underway and is expected to be completed by **the end of September 2026**.

A key milestone of the project is the direct collection of stock and supply information from OMCs and refineries, reducing reliance on manually reported data and enabling more timely monitoring of petroleum inventories.

Once operational, the system is expected to improve the quality of data used for **petroleum product demand planning, supply management and monitoring of supply-chain operations**.

At present, OGRA monitors petroleum stock availability but does not have a dedicated real-time ERP-based system for monitoring customs-bonded stocks.

Customs-bonded inventories, including duty-paid and non-duty-paid stocks, are administered by **Pakistan Customs and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)** under the Customs Act, 1969.

The digitisation initiative is also expected to strengthen coordination between OGRA, FBR and Pakistan Customs by providing authorities with faster access to petroleum stock information.

OGRA has already provided **FBR and Pakistan Customs access to its digital platform**, paving the way for improved information sharing and greater transparency across the petroleum supply chain.
