FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a comprehensive electricity conservation campaign across all districts within its service area on the special directives of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Engr Muhammad Aamer.
The campaign aims to encourage consumers to use electricity responsibly and efficiently while discouraging unnecessary consumption and wastage.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO FESCO Engr Muhammad Aamer said electricity conservation was a national responsibility and even small changes in consumers’ daily habits could collectively result in significant savings.
He said every unit of electricity saved through responsible consumption would help conserve national resources and make electricity available for other consumers, hospitals and essential facilities where it is urgently needed.
The CEO clarified that the campaign was not intended to discourage electricity use but to promote its efficient and responsible consumption. Reducing unnecessary usage would help ease pressure on the national power system while also lowering consumers’ electricity bills.
He urged consumers to switch off unnecessary lights, fans and other electrical appliances and make maximum use of natural daylight during daytime hours.
Consumers were also advised to replace conventional high-consumption bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights and completely switch off electrical appliances instead of leaving them on standby mode.
FESCO particularly urged consumers to avoid unnecessary electricity consumption during peak hours from 6:00pm to 11:00pm, when demand on the distribution system is at its highest.
Agricultural consumers were also advised to avoid operating tube wells during evening peak hours to reduce additional pressure on the electricity distribution system.
Consumers in homes, shops, offices and businesses were further advised to operate electrical appliances according to their sanctioned electricity load.
According to a FESCO spokesman, if millions of consumers save even a few units of electricity each day, the combined impact could significantly reduce overall electricity demand.
Such conservation, he said, would help ease pressure on the power distribution network and enable FESCO to provide electricity to the maximum possible number of consumers.
