Pakistan’s solar energy sector has recorded a notable setback, with net-metering units reportedly declining by 27.2% in August 2026 compared to July, according to data cited by Arif Habib Limited.
The monthly decline raises questions about the pace of solar adoption and the challenges facing Pakistan’s renewable energy sector.
However, the drop in net-metering units does not necessarily mean that overall solar installations or solar electricity generation declined by the same percentage.
As Pakistan continues its transition towards renewable energy, stable policies, affordable technology and investor confidence will remain important for long-term growth.
