Solar panel world record achieved with ‘miracle material’ June 19, 2024 A new efficiency world record for converting sunlight into electricity has been set, in what researchers claim is a huge boost for renewable energy. Researchers at Longi, the world’s biggest solar panel manufacturer, achieved a 34.6 per cent power conversion efficiency using a tandem perovskite-silicon solar cell, beating the previous record by 0.7 per cent. The new record is also more than 7 per cent more efficient than the record for a standard silicon solar cell, which is found in most commercial solar…

Net Metering to Gross Metering
There are strong rumors that government is in the process of amending rules with respect to roof-top solar power producers. In that reports say that DISCOs will shift from Net Metering to Gross Metering, which is, unlike net-metering, the consumer never utilizes the solar power generated by his installation as all of the power generated via solar panels is exported to the grid. It means that both export and import will be monetized separately each month.

PPIB ROLE IN RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION May 8, 2024 The Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB) was established in 1994 as a one-window facilitator on behalf of the Government of Pakistan (GoP) to promote private investment in the power sector of Pakistan. Since its inception, PPIB has consistently remained a frontrunner institution in Pakistan’s power sector.
