Construction of the first solar + storage array for New York campus underway

The State University of New York at Fredonia (SUNY Fredonia) announced that construction is starting on its first solar/battery project. The New York Power Authority (NYPA), as the campus’ energy advisor, is overseeing the project. Selected in a competitive bidding process, the state’s strategic partners Oriden, a Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems venture, and Solar Liberty are designing, installing and financing the 1.4-MW ground-mount solar plus 500-kW, 3-hour energy storage system. The Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) on Saturday constituted a high-level committee that would review a set of incentives for the import of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by public sector companies in a bid to provide the fuel to remote and hilly areas. Oil turns positive as Saudi Arabia says it will reduce output further

Oil prices reversed gains and turned positive on Monday after Saudi Arabia’s energy minister said the kingdom aims to provide additional voluntary cuts in an effort to support global markets. Brent crude futures gained 26 cents to trade at $31.23 per barrel, U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained 43 cents to trade at $25.18 per barrel.
