KARACHI: Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has approached the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking 54.8 percent increase in market operator fee to Rs3.002kwh/month for the fiscal year 2020-21. CPPA in its petition noted the agency’s revenue requirements for FY2020-21 were estimated at Rs853.61 million compared with Rs601.81 in the last fiscal year. In order to meet with the expenses for discharging the functions and plans mentioned, CPPA requires revenue to be approved by the NEPRA. Firms setting up waste-to-energy plants to get free land
The Sindh government has decided to provide free-of-charge land to the firms that will install plants to use the municipal waste of Karachi to generate clean electricity. This decision was taken on Wednesday during a meeting that was held to finalise the policy to install waste-to-energy plants in the city.
