Qatar Fund for Development Explores Opportunities in Pakistan’s Power Sector

The Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, expressed interest in expanding the fund’s involvement in Pakistan’s power generation and housing sectors during a two-day visit to Pakistan from March 23-24, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in key development areas.

During discussions with Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in the development of mega projects, particularly in the water sector. Minister Cheema highlighted Pakistan’s priority to strengthen ties with Qatar and welcomed the CEO of QFFD, acknowledging Qatar’s significant role in supporting Pakistan’s development efforts.

Minister Cheema expressed gratitude for Qatar’s support during challenging times, including the assistance provided to flood-affected communities in 2022. He also praised QFFD’s commitment to climate-resilient infrastructure projects in Pakistan.

CEO Al-Kuwari, on behalf of QFFD, reaffirmed their dedication to supporting Pakistan’s recovery and prosperity. The delegation’s visit aimed to initiate technical discussions and explore avenues for collaboration in critical sectors, reflecting the mutual commitment to fostering stronger bilateral relations and advancing development goals.
