PM Shehbaz Sharif Pushes for Accelerated Completion of Hydropower Projects


In Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to expedite work on two crucial hydropower projects located in Attaabad and Harpo. Additionally, he has called for an action plan regarding solar energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the region’s energy needs.

Following a meeting with Gulbar Khan, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, PM Shehbaz formed a committee to tackle the challenges faced by the region. This committee is tasked with providing comprehensive recommendations after thorough consultations on various issues affecting Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the development of education, healthcare, and tourism sectors in Gilgit-Baltistan. Progress updates on the ongoing hydropower projects in Attaabad and Harpo were also presented, highlighting the projects’ significance in ensuring a steady electricity supply for the region upon completion.

The completion of the Naltar Expressway, another key infrastructure development, was also mentioned as a pivotal step towards enhancing regional development and prosperity.

PM Shehbaz instructed officials to devise a detailed action plan for tourism and solar energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan, underscoring the government’s focus on harnessing renewable energy sources and promoting tourism potential in the area.

Furthermore, the prime minister emphasized the establishment of Danish schools across all three divisions of Gilgit-Baltistan, prioritizing access to quality education and healthcare services for the local population.
