The Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Plant has been shut down since May 2024 due to an obstruction in its headrace tunnels. Over 10,100 Pakistanis have been deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the past 16 months, while more than 50,000 visa applications from Pakistani citizens were rejected in 2024 alone.
According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between September 2023 and January 2025, 4,740 Pakistani prisoners who had completed their sentences in various UAE jails were deported. Additionally, 5,800 other Pakistani citizens were deported due to various crimes during the same period. The UAE has been cracking down on Pakistani citizens, with many countries worldwide imposing restrictions on them. However, the UAE has taken the most significant action against Pakistanis.
