Hascol Petroleum Appoints Javed Ahmedjee as CEO Amid Restructuring Drive

Javed-Project

KARACHI: Hascol Petroleum Limited has appointed Javed Ahmedjee as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 5, 2025, the company announced in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.

A seasoned executive and entrepreneur, Ahmedjee brings over three decades of experience in steering business transformations across sectors including energy, banking, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education, and capital markets. His leadership footprint spans Pakistan, Africa, and Europe, with roles in both Fortune 500 corporations and regional enterprises.

Hascol highlighted Ahmedjee’s instrumental role in executing Pakistan’s largest pharmaceutical merger and leading complex M\&A transactions in emerging markets. He is also credited with successfully turning around Puma Energy into a commercially viable, future-focused entity. Additionally, Ahmedjee advises organizations such as Citibank, GSK, Puma Energy, Shajar Capital, and Karachi Port Trust.

Welcoming the new CEO, Hascol stated, “This appointment marks an important milestone for the company. With the continued support of our shareholders, the Board remains committed to sound governance and effective leadership.”

Ahmedjee’s appointment comes as Hascol navigates a challenging period. In 2022, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Hascol’s founder, Mumtaz Hasan, in connection with a Rs54-billion financial fraud and money laundering case. The company has since embarked on a comprehensive debt restructuring plan to address the fallout.
