ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully increased oil and gas production at its Rajian Well-05 in Chakwal District by installing an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP), demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to enhancing field performance through advanced technologies.

Following a planned workover and ESP deployment, output from Rajian-05 surged to 3,100 barrels of oil per day (BPD) and 1.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Previously, the well had been producing only 820 BPD of oil and 0.5 MMSCFD of gas.

The Rajian Field, located in Punjab’s Chakwal District under the Gujar Khan Exploration License, is a 100% OGDCL-owned and operated asset. Discovered in August 1994, the field continues to play a key role in the company’s production portfolio.

This marks the third well in the Rajian Field to benefit from ESP technology, reinforcing OGDCL’s data-driven redevelopment strategy aimed at maximizing the potential of existing fields. While Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) have traditionally been used for shut-in or declining wells, OGDCL is now strategically expanding their use to naturally flowing wells where technical and economic feasibility is evident.

The initiative aligns with international best practices and supports the company’s long-term goals of improving recovery rates, boosting production efficiency, and ensuring sustainable energy supplies for Pakistan.

OGDCL reiterated its commitment to leveraging advanced field management techniques and innovative technologies to help meet the country’s growing energy needs.
