Thatta Cement Greenlights 7.5 MW Wind Power Expansion, Boosting Renewable Energy Portfolio

Thatta Cement Company Limited (TCCL) has announced that its Board of Directors has approved the development of an additional 7.5 MW wind power project, further strengthening the company’s commitment to sustainable energy.

The decision comes following the successful commissioning of TCCL’s 4.8 MW wind power project. With the new project, the company’s total renewable energy capacity will rise to 17.3 MW, combining two wind power projects of 4.8 MW and 7.5 MW alongside an existing 5 MW solar power installation.

TCCL emphasized that this expansion will not only enhance the share of renewable energy in its overall energy mix but also lead to significant cost savings and help reduce Pakistan’s dependence on fossil fuels.

The move aligns with the broader national trend of adopting alternative energy sources, with solar and wind increasingly gaining traction in both residential and commercial sectors across Pakistan.
