ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday apprised Mohammed bin Salman of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that contributed to the US–Iran ceasefire and the recent round of historic talks between Washington and Tehran held in Islamabad.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving regional situation. The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the wake of recent regional tensions.

He also conveyed heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives, stating that the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Saudi brethren. Prime Minister Shehbaz commended the Kingdom’s leadership, particularly the Crown Prince, for demonstrating patience and restraint during the crisis, describing it as a source of strength for peace-loving nations.

In response, the Crown Prince appreciated the constructive role played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Syed Asim Munir in advancing the peace process.

During discussions on bilateral ties, the prime minister expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued support toward Pakistan’s economic stability. He also highlighted the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two countries, underpinned by the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz is currently on a four-day official visit to Saudi Arabia. The visit comes ahead of a possible second round of US–Iran peace talks, following the highest-level engagement between the two countries in decades held in Islamabad last week.
