QUETTA: Unidentified assailants attacked a project site of National Resources Limited (NRL) in Balochistan on Tuesday evening, triggering a swift response from security forces who have since secured the area and launched a clearance operation.
According to a company statement, the attack occurred at approximately 5:45pm at the Darigwan site. Security personnel, including the Frontier Corps, responded promptly, stabilizing the situation and initiating a sweep to ensure the safety of workers and infrastructure.
NRL confirmed it is coordinating closely with law enforcement agencies and will share further updates as the situation develops. The company emphasized that the safety of its employees and operational assets remains its top priority.
Despite the incident, NRL reaffirmed its commitment to local development, noting that over 90 percent of its workforce at the Darigwan site comprises residents of Balochistan.
A 100 percent Pakistani-owned private firm, NRL is a joint venture between Fatima Fertilizer, Liberty Mills, and Lucky Cement, focused on developing large-scale mining projects in the province. The company currently holds two mining leases in Balochistan, including projects with copper and gold reserves, as well as lead and zinc prospects.
