The Sindh government has decided to purchase 1,000 additional Pink EV scooters for women and launch an inter-city People’s Bus Service to expand the province’s mass transit network. New routes connecting Khairpur to Rohri and Khairpur to Ranipur will begin operations next week.
Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon said inter-city bus services will soon be introduced in Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, Sanghar, and other districts. He also announced that new EV and double-decker buses will be added to Karachi’s fleet.
The decisions were made during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Memon at his office. Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Salimullah Odho, and other officials attended.
Officials briefed the meeting on new People’s Bus Service routes, distribution of Pink EV scooters, the EV Taxi Service, and ongoing mass transit projects. They said more buses will arrive in Karachi over the next few months to improve travel facilities for citizens.
Memon directed authorities to resolve issues related to Pink EV scooter registration without delay. The meeting also agreed to introduce more double-decker and hybrid buses to modernize the system, and reviewed projects aimed at providing environmentally friendly and quality transport.
Speaking at the meeting, Memon said the government is taking practical steps to empower women and ensure safe, dignified travel. He added that Sindh is working to provide modern, safe, and high-quality transport services across the province, with the system being upgraded in phases.
He emphasized that the convenience of women, students, and daily commuters remains the government’s top priority. Projects such as EV buses, hybrid transport, and Pink EV scooters are not only environmentally friendly but also economically beneficial for citizens.
Memon instructed officials to accelerate ongoing projects so the public can benefit as soon as possible.
